Habibie's childhood was passed with his brothers in Pare-Pare, South Sulawesi. The firm nature of sticking to the principle has been shown habibie since childhood. Habibie, who had a passion for horseback riding, had to lose his father who died on September 3, 1950 from a heart attack. Shortly after his father died, Habibie moved to Bandung to study at Gouvernments Middlebare School. In high school, he began to stand out for his achievements, especially in the lessons of ecstasy. Habibie became a favorite figure in her school.

After graduating from high school in Bandung in 1954, he entered the University of Indonesia in Bandung (Now ITB). He obtained his Diploma from Technische Hochschule, Germany in 1960 and then obtained his Doctorate from the same place in 1965. Habibie married in 1962, and has two children. In 1967, he became an honorary Professor (Professor) at the Bandung Institute of Technology.

Habibie's steps are widely admired, full of controversy, many admirers but not a few who disagree with him. Whenever, the winner of the prestigious Theodore van Karman Award, it returns from his German "habitat", he is always in the news. Habibie only a year studied at ITB Bandung, 10 years of college until he earned a doctorate in aircraft construction in Germany with the predicate Summa Cum laude. Then worked in the leading aircraft industry MBB Gmbh Germany, before fulfilling President Suharto's call to return to Indonesia.

Reorientation

In Indonesia, Habibie served 20 years as Minister of State Ristek / Head of BPPT, led 10 companies of Strategic Industrial SOEs, was elected MPR to be Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, and was sworn in by the Chairman of the Supreme Court to be the President of the Republic of Indonesia replacing Suharto. Suharto handed over the office of president to Habibie based on Article 8 of the 1945 Constitution. Until finally Habibie was forced to resign due to the refrendum of East Timor who voted for independence. His Accountability Speech was rejected by the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly. He returned to become an ordinary citizen, returning to Germany.
