RECOUNT TEXT

As the name implies, recount means retelrance. Therefore, recount text means a type of English text that contains stories or experiences in the past. It is useful to entertain and inform the reader.

So, what's the difference between narrative text and entertaining?  Although the recount text form is imaginative, he emphasizes more on experience. It's really fiction and it's not usually a true story.

Characteristics of Recount Text

Using the past tense

There is an adverbial phrase (time and place description)

Use conjunctions (hyphens: first, then, next)

Recount Text Form

Factual: what is told in the text is a fact-based story. For example lapoJran police or real events history.

Personal: you as a writer must have experience doing something or whatever it is? Well, your writing about the experience belongs to a personal form of text.

Imaginative: just as discussed earlier, the form of imaginative recount is almost similar nih same narrative text. The difference is that this form tells the story of your imaginative experience. For example, a dream.

Recount Text Drafting Structure

Orientation: as an opener, the orientation section contains basic information that answers who, where, when.

Events: in this content or events section, it's time for you to answer the question how or why. Tell your story and don't forget to use adverbial phrase.

Re-orientation: in the closing section, write your conclusions or opinions about your story in its entirety at once brief.

Orientation

On April 15, 1912, Titanic, one of the British largest and luxurious liners, sank into the North Atlantic Ocean which about 400 miles south of Newfoundland, Canada.

Event

That giant ship which carried 2,200 passengers and crews had struck an iceberg. Two and a half hour later the ship sank into the deep North Atlantic Ocean at 2:20 a.m.

From that tragedy, more than 1,500 people went down in the sinking ship. Some of them froze to death in the icy North Atlantic water and around 700 people (high class woman and children) survived.

Unfortunately that giant luxurious ship was not equipped with much more lifeboats and good emergency procedures so that the victims of that tragedy were more than the half passengers and crews.

Reorientation

That tragedy became popular again some years later after James Cameron directed a movie entitled Titanic in 1997.

The movie that was inspired by the tragedy of the sinking titanic was a fiction story about the members of different social class who meet in that ship and fallen in love. It was the best movie at that year and still remembered by a lot of people around the world until now.
